A View of Grade Two

Equipping students to impact the world for Christ Do Hard Things

January 28, 2013

Dear Parents, Thank you to Mrs. Busby, Mr. and Mrs. Frisell and Mrs. Sussman for helping with our pizza making. Read about it here and here. You will notice on Briskys blog we now have 2 new editors, Jada and Shun. I hope to add some more student editors as they earn the privilege through regular commenting on the blogs and good writing in class. We have had many blog postings in the past week. Please encourage your child to read and comment on what we are learning in class. With cold and flu season upon us, we are quickly going through our supply of tissues. We would very much appreciate if you could send a box of tissues to school with your child to use in the classroom. Language arts - This week the children will be receiving their scripts and we will start practicing for the Jan Brett reader's theaters to be performed on February 15. Practicing the scripts is a good way to work on smoothness and expression (fluency) in reading. The children will sometimes bring their scripts home to practice; please make sure that they are always returned to school the next day. Bible - There is no new Bible memory for this week. We continue looking at what we can learn about

Jesus from his miracles. Healing the Paralytic Matthew 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12, Wake Up! - Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43, Cure at Bethsaida - Mark 8:22-26, Blind Barimaeus - Mark 10: 46-52, Withered Hand - Luke 6:6-11. Watch for daily blog postings. Mathematics - We will begin looking at graphs and creating graphs. Our main learning target is: I can collect and organize data or use given data to create a graph. We also will discuss how graphs can help us make sense of Gods world. We will continue to review the vocabulary associated with geometry.
