This document is version 2.0 of the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Framework Specification, containing updates and corrections to version 1.5. The purpose of the CIMFramework is to assist in the creation of an integrated, common, flexible, modular object modelleading to an open, multi-supplier CIM system environment. It is designed to provide benefits thatinclude increased productivity, reduction in new development cost and cycle time, shorter factorystart-up and ramp-up times, a wider base of applications suppliers, and reduction in system meantime to repair (MTTR). The document is designed for technical managers and staff, applicationdevelopers, and CIM Framework component suppliers.
