A Dec. 2007 presentation to the IEEE Medical Technology Policy Committee. The presentation outlines false assumptions, underestimations and knowledge gaps of the business IT community regarding clinical IT such as electronic medical records or EMR, computerized order entry or CPOE, and CDSS or clinical decision support systems. These issues make creation of effective clinical information technology and design that provides a quality user experience for clinicians difficult.
