Nonlethal weapons (NLW) are designed to disable enemy forces or incapacitate combatants and others without killing them or causing permanent harm. Familiar examples are rubber bullets, tear gas, and communications jamming. But capabilities that are far more fantastic fall within the nonlethal weapons arsenal.
