As with many topics, wind energy is portrayed both positively and negativelyin the media. Understanding the source and motive o dierent media is animportant skill. By examining the words and images used in media, students willlearn how to decipher media messages and the methods o persuasion.
At the end o the lesson, students will
Understand the persuasion concepts o ethos,pathos, andlogos
Know how to analyze the language and images used in wind energy media(literature, articles, print and video ads)
Be able to develop their own media product using one o the methods o persuasion
Students will analyze media materials related to wind energy to determine whichtools are used to create an image and inorm opinion. Students will use theconcepts o ethos, pathos, and logos to categorize their analyses. Following theiranalyses, they will write a persuasive argument or or against wind energy.
Students will explorewhat eects mediacan have on people’sperception o windenergy.
