1.What is the theme of “Annabel Lee”? Explain how the following line is anexample of the theme of the poem.
“For we loved with a love that was more than love…”
The poem ‘Annabel Lee’ is one based on the theme of eternal love. In this poem, thenarrator portrays his love toward Annabel by means of a dramatic use of nostalgia.In the line “For we loved with a love that was more than love…” narrator says thatthe bonds of their love were so strong that it cannot be affected by anything. He alsosays that their love was divine and it could not be compared to the definition of love.This kind of love is hardly seen and the central idea of the poem is based on their love, their experiences, and their sufferings.

Poe uses: “In a kingdom by the sea”. Being a second line of the poem, it creates sucha setting that the reader would himself step into the fantasy world. These words arecommonly used in fairy tales.
