As you\u2019ve w atched others deal w ith these emergencies, you may
have w ondered w hat w ould happen if a disaster struck closer to home.

For parents or teachers of young children, the thought is even more trou- bling. How w ould you and your children cope? Perhaps you\u2019ve already experienced a disaster \u2014 w hat w ould y ou do differently next time? The answer to both questions is clear. Be prepared.

This coloring book is designed for adults and children to w ork on together.

Children can learn about fire, earthquakes, floods, tornados and other disasters, as w ell as how to protect themselves \u2014 all w hile having fun coloring.

Work through each section w ith children to m ake sure they understand the concepts and learn important safety messages. To help you do this, each coloring page is accompanied by key points to talk about and

action steps to take. You may w ant to review this information before

meeting w ith children. The coloring book ends w ith a \u201cquiz\u201d that can help you find out if they learned the information. From time to time, quiz chil- dren again and practice key steps to help them remember w hat to do.

expect. By creating a family disaster plan, you can help children be
