The First Three Kingdoms

Between 500 -1600 CE, three kingdoms developed in West Africa, Ghana, Mali and Songhai. There were 2 main factors that contributed to the rise in the three main kingdoms.
Wealth of the leaders was a very important factor to the rise of the kingdoms. Wealth was accumulated through the three ts, taxes,trade and tribute. The rulers raised large armies and conquered surrounding tribes forcing them to pay tribute..

The Kingdom of Ghana

The kingdom of Mali lasted from The kingdom of Ghana lasted about the early 13th century to from about 500 CE to some time the 15th century. in the 11th century.

Farmers in Mali grew, rice,millet,papaya,gourds,cotton, and peanuts. The kingdom of Mali stretches over Ghana and a lot more territory to numerous to mention.

The kingdom of Ghana stretched from the Sahel Region to the valley between the Senegal and Niger Rivers.
