Hull & East Yorkshire Business Tourism Event in Germany
Hull and East Yorkshire Conferences, in partnership with Visit England and the De Vere Village UrbanResort in Hull, hosted an Afternoon Tea reception at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne last week.Twenty people attended the exclusive event, including representatives from several associations andMICE organisations.Billed as “a chance to see a corner of England as never before”, the event took full advantage of thefact that David Hockney’s: A Bigger Picture Exhibition has been on show at the Museum from October 26
to February 3
. As well as viewing some amazing landscapes of Hull and East Yorkshire, there was also anopportunity for attendees to find out more about holding conferences and events in the area.“This special event gave us the opportunity to show key conference and meetings buyers in Germanyexactly why, Hull and East Yorkshire is such a great place to hold their events,” explains EllieGarmston, Business Tourism Sales Officer for VHEY. “And it obviously helped to have Hockney’samazing landscapes of the region as a dramatic backdrop for this event.”Paintings, drawing and films by one of Britain’s best-known living artists, David Hockney, have helpedto put Yorkshire’s “Wolds” landscape under the spotlight in Germany for more than three months.The exhibition which has also been on show at The Royal Academy of Arts and The GuggenheimMuseum in Bilbao, has been responsible for a rise in the number of visitors to this part of Britain, andthe local tourist office has been quick to create a special page on their website, highlighting the way inwhich holiday makers to The Yorkshire Wolds can get the most from their time there:http://www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com/events/hockney.aspx.
