SLP
 
Dean Javier felt conducting a post-test after a significant time lag wouldresult in skewed data.
 
However, the programs the Assessment Committee was hoping to involvein the post-testing phase now, never completed their pre-test. Those programs are: Radiology, Pharmacy, EMT/Paramedics.
 
Post-test updates for Career Programs
 
Renal turned their post-test into Dean Javior 
 
 Nursing has almost completed scoring their post-test
 
Respiratory Care has post-test completed, but needs to turn into DeanJavior 
 
Phlebotomy has finished grading their post-tests and will turn in withRespiratory Care
 
Mortuary Science no one can track down. Marietta McDuffy says shehas them

Pre-test 1140 of them are useable
 
Post-test 650 of them are useable
 
Reasons for low number % of post-test
 
Difference been student body from being of semester to end of semester (students dropping course)
 
Very few departments turned in their results
 
Many of the scoring was done incorrectly

 Number of students who participated in the SLP multiple times becauseoverlap of courses
 
Pre-test: 27 students took the test 3x in various courses
 
Pre-test: 207 students took the test 2x in various courses
 
Pre-test: 906 students took the test once
 
Lessons learned:
 
Serious lack of communication:
 
Student ids should have been matched for each grader (scoring sheetsshould have been matched ahead of time)
 
More training for graders needed (too much variation)
 
Some scores between graders were too close
 
Graders unclear on what constitutes a 2 score (1 being bad, 2 beingokay, 3 being good, 4 being excellent), a lot of inconsistencies
 
#2 had the greatest variations because, perhaps, the holistic rubricwas too holistic and needed to discuss more what constitutes a 1, 2,3, o4 4
 
Some graders forgot about grading sheet and in certain areas thatneeded check marks, graders put numbers
 
Some graders gave
½
scores instead of using whole numbers
 
Some graders entered in zero when zero should not have been used
 
Reasons for inconsistency during post test
 
Attitudes, burnout, forgetting may have played a large role indifferences
 
 No accountability for action
 
 No clear instructions (step-by-step) given to graders
 
Recommendations
 
Call meeting with Career program chairs (invite them to nextexecutive board meeting) and discuss the importance of havingmembers attend meetings
 
 Need to have on-going face-to-face interaction
 
 Next go to Program Deans: Alta Williams and Michael Gorman
 
 Need to discuss how to “release” the SLP data
 
Do we want a written report, made available on line?
 
Suggest inviting anyone interested to the next full assessmentcommittee meeting where Dean Javior will “reveal” the data of SLP
 
Also present at a college wide meeting
 
Each department will be given a synopsis of their department data byDean Javior 
 
Departments are given a template of reporting method addressingdifficulties of the SLP
 
Departments then report out to Assessment Committee on how they plan to address those problemsVI.
 
Department Assessment Plan mechanics
 
People need to be made clear of nuts and bolts of plan and the template
 
Goal is to split into groups during assessment committee full member meetings and work on template questions
