Web Drama one: Doctor Who Dreamland.


What is the Structure of Doctor Who Dreamland?
Doctor Whos structure is a series made up of 6 episodes. The first one being a 12 minutes long episode and the other 5 were 6 minute episodes. The Show was broadcasted daily from the 21 st of November 2009 on the BBCS Red Button Service and it was also broadcasted on the official Doctor Who website and on BBC iplayer. Who are the Audience? Doctor whos genre is a Sci Fi so the audience are going to be Sci - Fi lovers. The age ranges from 12 18 and maybe some older viewers as well. Doctor Who is for younger viewers around of 8 - 10as well considering its a child friendly programme.

What is the Narrative Structure? Here is the Plot of the first episode of Doctor Who Dreamland. 13 June 1947: a spaceship, trying to escape from two others, is shot down and crashes on Earth near Roswell, New Mexico. Eleven years later in Dry Springs, Nevada, The TARDIS materialises at a diner, and the Doctor meets Cassie Rice and Native American Jimmy Stalkingwolf. He uses his sonic screwdriver to investigate an alien artifact. Detecting that the artifact has been activated, two Men in Black arrive demanding the artifact in question. The Doctor and the others escape, to investigate Jimmy's "space monster". The monster turns out to be a Viperox battle-drone and is destroyed by a rocket from a USAF helicopter which arrives on the scene. The soldiers take them to Area 51 (aka Dreamland). In Dreamland, Colonel Stark locks them in a cell with a gas that will wipe their memories. The Doctor manages to break free, stop the gas, and escapes with Cassie and Jimmy via a ventilation shaft. The alarm sounds and they run into a lab where they find a captured grey alien. After fleeing pursuing guards in a lift they are recaptured at the top of the lift shaft. Colonel Stark is revealed to be working with a Viperox leader named Lord Azlok.

What is the Structure of Eastenders E20? Eastenders E20 is a British internet soap which began airing on 8 th January 2010. This Web Based Drama is a spin off from the established BBC Soap Eastenders. The show is set in the EastEnders regular setting of Albert Square, a Victorian square in the fictional borough of Walford in the East End of London. Who are the audience?

The audience range from 12 18 year olds just like Doctor Who dreamlands. The main target audience are teenagers. This is because most Teenagers spend their time on the internet and also on the show the themes of love, family life and break ups are common in most teenagers today.

What are the Techniques used in Eastenders E20?

They have used the same Techniques that they have used the original EastEnders. They have used Close up shots, Tracking shots, Establishing shots , Eyeline match and reverse shots. (Reverse shot is used in conversations such as Fatboy talking to Mercy. The camera shows mercy reaction whenever fatboy is talking and vice versa.) They have a remixed version of the Eastenders Theme song. The EastEnders team asked viewers to come up with a remixed theme of EastEnders on a competition and they will chose from a variety of people to play it in the Web based Drama. This did this to make the theme song more hip -hop and suitable for teenagers since they are into those things.

What is the Structure of the Cut? The Cut is a BBC Television soap for Teenagers, it was first broadcasted in September 2009. The series was developed by BBC Switch and Holby City writer AL Smith in collaboration with Kate Modern producer Pete gibbons and Hollyoaks director, Sarah Walker. The Cut is broadcast in 25 minute episodes on BBC Two, with each episode being broadcast in daily five-minute chunks.

Who are the audience?


The Audience in this Web Based Drama are Teenagers. This is because in the show the themes that are used are the same as Eastenders E20 which are Love, Family life and Break ups. Secrets are also kept throughout the series which is similar to teenager life today.

What are the Techniques used? The episode I have a looked is called I found dads wallet and the show opens up with an establishing shot of London. An reverse shot is in this episode as well. This is when Jay is talking to a lawyer and finds that he owns the restaurant of the tramp who died in the first episode. Eyeline Matches are used in this episode to show someone looking at something or someone else. This shot lets the viewers know what that person is seeing. They have also used tense music when someone gets in to a fight or after someone's been attacked.
