Saving Money on First Aid
How do you handle the first aid cabinets in your workplace?There are usually one of several options:
Option One
- You can have a first aid company come in and monitor all the first aid cabinets and restock them. That’sthe easiest and simplest way but you pay a premium for it. It only makes sense that the company that does this for youis going to have to charge more to offset the cost of the vehicle that they have to maintain, the wages of the person whocomes out, gas, insurance, etc… They will usually sell this increased cost by explaining that you still have to pay someoneto do the work, whether it is them or someone at your company who is doing the work instead. That the next option.
Option Two
- you can have one of your own employees check each cabinet on a regular basis and make sure that theyare properly stocked and that replacement items are ordered. The company that we mentioned in option one is correct,you do have to pay this employee to do the work.
Option Three
– Whoever notices that one of the items in the first aid cabinet is getting low tells the person who doesthe ordering and the item is ordered, brought in and replaced.Each one of these options is flawed. In option one you are paying a premium for the service (which, we will see, youdon’t really need). In option two you are paying an employee to do the work and it is often someone who could be doingsomething a lot more productive. In option three you usually end up with a mess because people either don’t let anyoneknow that an item is running low or the item is needed again before it is replenished, etc… etc…At the risk of making today’s blog sound like a plug, I’m going to offer a third “no-hassle” solution that takes theheadache out of the first aid (pun intended) and doesn’t cost anything more than the cost of the first aid supplies.First Aid only has come up with a SmartCompliance First Aid kit that makes first aid a snap.
