The Order for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
The People kneel as the service of Benediction begins. The Priest and Server goto the Altar and prepare incense. Then, taking the Blessed Sacrament from theTabernacle, the Priest places it in the Monstrance. The Priest kneels and censes theBlessed Sacrament as the hymn, O salutaris hostia, is sung. 
HYMN O Salutaris Hostia
A time of silent adoration is observed.
During the rst verse, all bow at the words
“Veneremur cernui”. The priest censes theSacred Host again during the secondverse of the hymn.
HYMN Tantum ErgoThe Priest then stands and sings:You have given them Bread from heaven. (Alleluia.)
People: Having within itself all Sweetness. (Alleluia.)
Priest: Let us pray.Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of your suffer-
ing and death. May our worship of this sacrament of your body and bloodhelp us to experience the salvation you won for us and the peace of thekingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for
ever and ever. Amen. 
The Priest receives the humeral veil on his shoulders. Then he goes up to the Altar,
takes the Monstrance into his hands, and turns towards the People. The Priest
gives the Benediction, making the sign of the cross over the kneeling congregationin silence. At the same time, the sanctus bell is rung three times and the Servercenses the Blessed Sacrament. Placing the Monstrance back on the Altar and giv-ing up the humeral veil, the Priest kneels and begins
