Todd:
Hey, Melissa, we'retalking about big eventsthis week and what aresome big events that youreally enjoy?
Melissa:
I like doingcommunity events. I'mtrying to get moreinvolved in communityevents. There's a fleamarket this weekend.
Todd:
A flea market?
Melissa:
Yes.
Todd:
Oh, yeah.
Melissa:
At thebeachside, and there'sgoing to be lots of different eco-friendly stuff going on there, so it'skind of a mix of a reuse, resell your old stuff. Getnew stuff for cheap.
Todd:
OK, so for peoplewho might not be familiar with the term flea market, can you explain?
Melissa:
A flea market isbasically a place whereyou can take old clothes, old utensils, forks, spoons, knives, thingslike that from the kitchen, and other housewares toeither sell them or givethem away at a cheapprice, and it's funbecause the customers...a lot of them like to comeand look at all thedifferent stuff and evenmaybe haggle someprices, so try to get you togive a lower price, or if you're trying to get rid of alot of stuff you might try toget the customer to taketwo things for the price of one. Things like that.
Todd:
Yeah, right. Likewhen I was a kid I used toalways go to flea marts,or flea markets with mygrandparents, and what Ithought was great is thatyou can haggle.
Melissa:
Yeah.
Todd:
Right? Cause inthe U.S. you can't haggleat a store.
Melissa:
Yeah, exactly. And I like doing that whenI'm traveling ... haggling.Trying to get a good deal,so it's fun to do it at a fleamarket when you'reselling your own stuff.
Todd:
So, this weekend, are you selling or buying?
Melissa:
Well, I actuallydon't have that much stuff to sell cause I've recentlymoved so I've gotten ridof a lot of stuff I don'tneed, but I do plan bringsome old pieces of clothing and things likethat that I want to get ridof, and yeah, I'm reallyinto flea markets and oldthrift stores and stuff likethat, so I just like to seewhat people have. If there's something cool, Imight buy it.
