Day 3: Lao Cai – Sapa – Ban Ho Village – Sapa
Once we arrive in Lao Cai we get a transferaround 1hr to our hotel in Sapa. After checking in,freshening up and a light breakfast we will get ourbikes together with a wonderful day’s bikingthough the Sapa Valley. At first on a dirt road butthen on single track paths. We will descent to BanHo village, home to Tay people. We will bikebeside the main river, on a fast undulating route toNam Toong, a village of Red Dzao people. Picniclunch on the way before continuing to My Son, avillage populated by Xafo people, one of thesmallest ethnic group in Vietnam. We return toSapa by a jeep ride. Dine at local restaurant andovernight in hotel.

Day 4: Sapa – Lao Cai
After breakfast in the hotel we will begin the ridearound 8.30am, directly from Sapa and straightaway we are flying along on a 38km stretchinvolving a challenging climb at first and then aspectacular, fast flowing downhill to join a remote jeep track. We will meet up for lunch at lowerdownhill. The jeep track climbs at first but thenprovide a fast descent before we hit a shortsection of paved road that leads to Lao Cai Town.This is a long and challenging day with one shortsection where we might have to carry our bikes.Dinner in local restaurant and overnight in hotel.

Day 5: Lao Cai – Phong Hai Village – Bac Ha
Early rising for breakfast and load our bikes onsupport vehicle for 1-hr transfer to the village ofPhong Hai. Our ridding begins on a good hardpacktrack along the side of a quiet road. Climbinggently then descending steeply to the small villageof Coc Ly. Take a boat trip on Chay River, abeautiful river with stunning mountain gorge. Theboat trip is followed by a ride on riverbank single-track and an alpine road climb to the quiet town ofBac Ha. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner andovernight in Bac Ha.

Day 6: Bac Ha – Can Cau Market (SaturdayMarket) – Bac Ha
Breakfast in the hotel and begin our ride to CanCau Saturday Market. It is 30 km on tarmac to themarket. The first half of the road climbs uphill quietsteeply. The second half of the road offer a fastdescent to the market. The open-air market, whichis perched on the side of a hill just outside thevillage, is one of the most fascinating in Vietnam.Nothing can prepare you for the riot of color andactivity at the regional minority markets that can befound dotted around the Sapa region. Make sureyou've brought enough film or your camera'sbatteries are fully charged, as they are aphotographer's delight!After a light lunch beside the market, a steep climb(or transferred by our support vehicle) back up tothe pass now open the way for an off-road routeback to Bac Ha. At first this is on rough jeep trackbut then turn into the classic section of single trackthat is occasionally technical in places. There willbe short sections where you will need to get offand walk with your bike, the views across todistant Bac Ha make it well worthwhile. Dinner andovernight in Bac Ha.
