February 13, 2009Dear Managing Partner:Re: 3
RD
ANNUAL STATEWIDE LEGAL FOOD FRENZYPLEASE FORWARD THIS TO YOUR PROGRAM COORDINATOR
I am proud to say that last year’s
2nd Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy

was a record settingsuccess, raising
1,366,401 pounds

of food in cash and food donations for Virginia’s food banks
,more than doubling the amount raised during the 2007 inaugural event. Former Attorney GeneralBob McDonnell and the Virginia Bar Association would like to challenge the legal community insouthwestern Virginia and across the Commonwealth to raise the bar again this year for the hungrychildren, elderly and working poor. The
3rd Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy
, benefiting theSouthwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, willtake place from
March 30 through April 10, 2009
. Our goal is to get every law firm and legal officein the Commonwealth to participate in this event! In order to reach this goal, obviously we will need
your help. Therefore, we ask that you participate in this year’s event.
In 2008 the 28 participating law firms in southwestern Virginia collected
$14,607.24
and
2,338pounds
of food for the Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank. That was nearly
double
what was collected the previous year!
With the Food Bank’s ability to provide $6.00 of food for every
$1.00 donated you can see that the donations received in 2008 had a long and lasting impact on thehungry in our region. What an exciting three weeks it was for the SWVA Second Harvest Food Bankas law firms in this region poured out their hearts for the hungry. When all was said and done, theparticipating firms in 2008 provided more than 59,000 meals for the hungry men, women and children
struggling throughout the Food Bank’s 26 county service territory. Last year the Food Bank
distributed more than 11.3 million pounds of food through a network of 350 partner agency feedingprograms, serving approximately 100,000 individuals every month, but the Food Bank cannot do itwithout the help of community supporters like your Law Firm.
