God Does Not Answer the Phone in a High Tech Church
Can South Carolina Church Pastors Deliver the "Personal Touch" in a"High Tech Church?"
In a High Tech World Full of High Tech Churches People Still Long For theHuman Touch
Of great concern to many local South Carolina Church Pastors thesedays is "who is answering the phones for the Congregation?" Pastors and Ministers, through the Church, are in the People Business.
When someone calls a Church, they expect to find a caring polite voice on the other end.
But what do most High Tech Churches do today? For economic reasons, they havegone to an automatic voice mail. South Carolina Pastors have recently concluded thisis a poor choice. Here's as interesting breakdown of a real example given by aChurch Pastor from Seneca, South Carolina.
"This morning I received a "thank you e-mail" from someone who attendedthe Church I used to pastor. In this person's e-mail, they made the followingstatement:
'After going to a Drama (a play or performance) called 'Hells Fire, Heavens Gates,' my husband and Iwent to the 'Alter' and made a commitment to follow the Lord and we said the 'Sinners Prayer'.
The Spirit lead us to Find a Church near our new home in South Carolina. We moved to South Carolina, but we never went out and sought Fellowship with a local Church Congregation.
The personal criteria we set was that the Church be 'Bible based', within 10 miles of our home, acomfortable atmosphere, and have a Pastor we respected who could teach us God's will and build ourknowledge of Spiritual Truths.
Armed with telephone numbers of six area churches of various denominations, I proceeded to call eachnumber.
Five Church numbers resulted in a voice mail.
Only your Church was answered with a live' person and you answered all my questions and werewarm, friendly and enthusiastic."
In other words, just because the Church Pastor took the time to answer the phone he had theprivilege of ministering to a new couple of believers for years.
That same kind of story repeats itself over and over again! As the saying goes, "In the world of High TechChurches, people still long for high touch."

Have High Tech Churches Lost the Human Touch?South Carolina Ministers Say No
The story continues: "I remember talking to a Pastor of a SC Church of threethousand one time about this. I said, "Back when you were a Church of athousand, you used to answer your phones. Now, you're a Church of three thousand but you can't answer yourphones any more. What gives?"He said, "It costs too much to have someone sit and answer the phones all day." To which I replied, "Let me seeif I understand this. It wasn't too expensive when you were a church of a thousand. But now that you havethree times as much money, you can't afford to have a receptionist?"
