We are just bouncing right along in Kindergarten. The month of February is packedfull of fun and learning. We will continue learning our letters, their sounds and doingmore printing. Last month we did lots of work on patterning in Math and we are goingto leave that for a while and start looking at printing our numbers and counting, count-ing, counting. We want to send out a big Thank You to Jaida Prichard, who did work experience in our classroom. We allenjoyed Jaida and will miss having herin class. We welcome Ty Dietrich thissemester, the kids are going to lovehim!I certainly hope that old groundhogdoes not see his shadow because thissouthern girl is ready for Spring. Iknow, I am dreaming! Have a wonder-ful Valentines Day and remember to dosomething nice for the sweetie pie inyour life.

Kindergarten Bits and Pieces:
: We will be skating a few more times this month. Thank you for the huge parents support wehave received at the arena, both off and on the ice. I cannot get over how fast those little ones who havenever had skates on learn to skate. Starting on Feb. 8, those who want to bring their hockey sticks can,but they will have to have a full facemask if they want to play hockey. We put the hockey game on oneend and the other skaters on the other, so they only play hockey if they choose to.
Winter afternoon at the TH Ranch
: This may be the best field trip of the year. We visit the THRanch, which is the former home of Jim Crawford, we have lunch in the shop (they get dirty, where oldsnowpants if possible), we play on bales, we visit the barn and animals and we get pulled out to the bestsledding hill around on a wagon behind a tractor and just have so much fun. The children all HAVE tohave CSA approved helmets and their crazy carpet sleds (those foam sleds are fine, we just can’t haveanything with metal or anything really hard). They of course need appropriate clothing for the day. Wewill leave the school at approximately 11:30am and return by bus time. I will need some parents to ac-company us on this excursion. This is a fun one, don’t miss it! Is there a parent who could organize thehotdog lunch? (I could use a few dads for this one!) This is scheduled for Feb. 26, I hope the weathercooperates.
: We will be having our Valentines Party on February 14. I have included a classlist for the students to do their Valentines and a list of the parents who get to send goodies enough for 14hungry kids.Sweet Treat: Forster, J Crackers/Cheese (meat optional): McAfeeFruit Tray (dip optional): Forster, M Veggie Tray: MillerJuice Boxes/Punch: Klapak
: Could the Klapak and Mauria Forster Families send us in a batch of pink or red playdoh.
: Each student will be making spectacular Valentine Holders. We need eachparent to send in a large (larger than an 8 1/2 by 11) gift bag. It does not have to be Valentine colors,we will be covering it, so if it has Christmas stuff on it that is fine. We will need those by February 7.Please put you child’s name on the inside.
Little Pink Hearts
: I have included 6 pink hearts. We are making a heart-y display. Each time aparent reads a book to their child, please record the title and child’s name on one of the hearts and sendit back to school. We will attach these to our Valentine person and watch him grow. The children cando the printing on the hearts and feel free to make more if they are needed.
