The Equity and Excellence Commission

 The Equity and Excellence Commission (the Commission) is a federal advisorycommittee chartered by Congress, operating under the Federal AdvisoryCommittee Act (FACA); 5 U.S.C., App.2.
 The commission’s charge was to provide advice to thesecretary of the U.S. Department of Education on thedisparities in meaningful educational opportunities thatgive rise to the achievement gap, with a focus on systems
of nance, and to recommend ways in which federalpolicies could address such disparities. The ndings and
recommendations of the commission do not representthe views of the department, and this document does notrepresent information approved or disseminated by theDepartment of Education.
