New Business on the Rise in Mississippi
Business Formations indicate Growth in the State
The number of new businesses forming in Mississippi shows an upward trend of steadygrowth.
“As we move past this economic recession, more and more businesses want to set up shop in Mississippi, andthe numbers show it,” says Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann. “We have unlimited resources in our State,
coupled with an educated, trainable workforce. These numbers show many businesses are taking advantage of
what Mississippi can offer new industries.”
Obviously, Mississippi businesses prefer the Limited Liability Company (LLC) structure to a corporatestructure. Corporate formations have decreased from 3,819 per year in 2010 to 3,572 last year. LLC formationsrose to 14,918 from 12,005 in 2010. Mississippi currently has 48,488 corporations registered to do business and
“We believe legislative amendments to Mississippi’s LLC law, now considered one of the foremost in thecountry, have further spurred this growth,” adds Secretary Hosemann.
