As a businesswoman, I know how important it is to use taxdollars wisely. As Parkland Hospital board ChairmanI managed a $305 million budget. Having spent time atCity Hall, I see opportunities to pare down the budgetand eliminate waste.
Budget Watch Dog.Strong, Safe Neighborhoods.Building for the future.
I have lived in District 13 for 25 years and I will be a full-time advocatefor District 13. I will fight for strong, safe neighborhoods – reducedcrime, great parks, paved streets and alleys. I have lived in District 13and know it well. As a Park Board member I worked with neighbor-hoods and police to make our parks cleaner and safer. As a PlanCommission member I fought intrusive zoning that would harm thevalue of our homes.
Ruben Esquivel, Former Board Chairman, Parkland Hospital
“Ann served on the Parkland Board for six years, two of those as Chairman of the Board. From the beginning she paid close attention to the budget, scrutinizing it line by line, looking for ways to save money and provide more effective services. She wanted to protect both the Dallas County taxpayers as well as the people served.”
Ross Coulter, Walnut Hill Neighborhood Leader
“Ann stepped in to help clear our neighborhood park of drug dealers. Her energy and determination brought neighbors, police and park officials together. The result was more police patrols of the park leading to multiple arrests. She understands how the cityoperates and knows what resources are available to improve neighborhoods. Ann’s effortsmeant a lot to our residents and helped make Peter Pan Park safer for everyone.”
I am extremely optimistic about the future of Dallas. Although we are intough times, we are in the best position of any city in the U.S. to moveforward. To keep our economy vibrant and grow our tax base we mustattract businesses that create jobs. Development will help reduce thetax burden on homeowners, but it must be the kind of development ourneighborhoods want.
ANN MARGOLIN.The only candidate with a record oftackling the tough issues facing our community.
