Farewell to Pope Benedict XVI

From Bishop John: As we know, on February 28, 2013, the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI will end. After a lifetime of study and writing, and 8 years as Pope, all fueled by prayer and worship, he will now begin a life of prayer alone. It is appropriate that we should extend greetings of thanks and best wishes and promises of continued prayer to him. I would like to do that through the words and images of our youngsters. I ask that all those in the catechetical programs and our St. Mary School to prepare a one-page farewell message or drawing for Pope Benedict. Each child who does so will receive a memento depicting Pope Benedict or something blessed by him that I brought back from Rome last year. Bishop John asked that these messages or drawings be sent to him before March 20. Those children who wish to participate should bring them to the church on March 10.
