Fiqh Page 4.3www.madressa.net TOPIC 2: NIYYAT
Niyyat means our Intention. In everything we do in our daily lives, we must make sure that our Niyyat for doing it,is only to please Allah – i.e.
So, everything we do, we should know
weare doing it and should always be aware of it;i.e. For the pleasure of Allah – Qurbatan ilallah- whether it is Salaat, Fasting, or any gooddeed like listening to our mums or not beingrude or helping a friend with something or respecting our teacher.
For ANY good action – we should always think that we are doing this because Allahis watching us and knows what we are doing at all times, and this action will makeHim pleased with us.In the same way, if you have a teacher who is really really nice to us, we feel morethat we want to be a good student for them so they are proud of us, or if we have afriend who is always really really nice to us and always gives us nice presents, wewant to keep them as a friend and make them like us more and give them gifts inreturn, -- in the same way Allah loves us
so so so
much and has given us so manythings, we should
to do all the things that will make him pleased with us and begood people so that he is pleased with us and proud of us.Every morning we should think to ourselves that I want to be a good person today soAllah is pleased with me (Qurbatan ilallah). During the day, before doing anything,we should think to ourselves “Allah is watching me. Will he be pleased if I do this?”If the answer is yes then we should do it because we want to please him.If the answer is no then we should not do it.
Now you know…I must do everything in my life with the Niyyat of
because I want to please Allah all the time.
