Abstract
Resort is a combination of hospitality facilities and recreation. The title Recreational Tourist Resort is chosen because this resort focuses mainly on recreational facilities. Here, visitors can feel intimacy with nature along with the quality of space and service. The resort is designed in a manner that one can enjoy day time recreational facilities can stay overnight too. The varieties of recreational facilities like, Golf, Water based recreations (Swimming, Boating, fishing, Amphibian Plane, Canoeing etc.), Outdoor Sports, Club House Facilities, Trekking, Mountaineering, Para Gliding, Caving etc are magnetic features of the resort. The resort spreads over an area of 70 Ropanies and extra 30 Ropani for 3 hole miniature Golf Course. The site is contoured down from south towards north and main block of the resort is designed over the topmost level of the site, whereas cottages are allocated in lower part of the site. On the lower western side, recreational block is planned where the combination of 3 buildings have created a focal plaza. Two entrances, one main entrance is in upper part of the site which has vehicular access and another in lower part of the site has waterway access. The site is adjacent to Phewa Lake, so maximum consideration have been given to lake and Mountain View and for this, maximum rooms are oriented towards northern direction. View decks and photography deck are also designed in different part of the site. There are altogether 85 rooms divided in main block and cottages. Main block have 47 guest units,8 twin cottage have 16 rooms, and 2 multi user cottage have 20 rooms. Combination of local construction materials and modern technology tend to created buildings in harmony with site and surrounding. Emerging concept of eco-sensitive architecture in present context is another part to be implemented in building sector. Thus, in every aspect of design, it is necessary to incorporate few portion of green or sustainable architecture. Effect in environment due to building sectors is unavoidable but, we shall always act to minimize it. Concept of rainwater harvesting, Ground water recharge, sewerage treatment, wind mill, Solar PV cells, solar water heater, and edible landscape is implemented in this project. Minimizing hard surface in landscape and extensive use of plants and tress helps to maintain local ecology. Thus, this resort is a combination of buildings, recreational facilities and ecological balance which create one of the best destinations.
