Description
Shah Abdul Latif of Bhittai is a very great Sindhi Poet and his art in one sense is "impressionist par excellence". These incidents and episodes are called 'Surs' (musical themes), as if only the hidden music of all, that is seen and felt, is taken note of and expressed. In all, the poet deals with 29 such episodes or themes.
Madam Elsa Kazi Gertrude Loesch (1884-1967) is remembered today, as she was called in her life time, with the epithet "Mother Elsa". Her story-telling, as such, should not surprise anyone; but her knack of it, and the impact thus produced, amuses everyone.
Although she did not know Sindhi language directly but still she managed to produce translation in English verse of the selected verses of Shah Abdul Latif after the pith and substance of the meaning of those verses were explained to her by Allama Kazi.
