Premium VIP members receive the added benefit of being able to schedule reports, and tohave them delivered both to a private VIP folder, as well as to an e-mail address. Thistutorial will walk you through how the report scheduler works, with plenty of visuals toillustrate the process.First, we’ll need to select a report to schedule. In this case, we’re going to select a TargetReport, where we can enter a set value as the baseline for the report – for instance, all batters over a .320 average, or all RBI seasons over 140, etc.In this case, we’ll choose the Total Bases report. Note that if we want to run the reportwithout using the report scheduler, we would simply click on the report link, which thenlaunches the report parameter screen, where we select the report options. When we usethe scheduler, we will instead check the box next to the Total Bases report, as shown inthe image below. Checking this box will activate both the Report Scheduler and Run inBackground buttons, whichwill give us the ability to setreport parameters and deliveryoptions. After checking the box andthen clicking on the Schedule button on the toolbar, we nextsee a window showing thereport scheduler process, beginning with the initial screen telling us which report is to be scheduled. In this case wesee that it is the Top_TB report, the actual report name for the Total Bases reportselection.

If we are good with this choice, the next step is to select the Schedule Job button, wherewe can set our options. Selecting the Run Now button will achieve the same result, if wedon’t need to set the report to run at a future time. We can also continue with theSchedule Job button, and then run the report immediately, as well as at a future time or date. After selecting the Schedule Job button, we see a new screen that allows us to name thereport, and provide a brief description. Here we see the blank screen, and then anexample of filling in the labeland description fields on theform. After selecting the Next button,we see a window allowing usto set the report schedule. Inthis case, we will run the reportimmediately, with norecurrence. Note that time zonesettings can be adjusted for thescheduler, and we can alsoenter specific future dates torun the report using a calendar activated by clicking the ‘On’radio button. The next step is to enter the report parameters – what we actually wish to see on thecompleted report. Here, we have elected to run a report showing all seasons between1970 and 2008, for both leagues, all batters, where the number of total bases was 400 or higher. The final screen is the Output window, whereformat and delivery options are set. This iswhere you can indicate if you want the report inPDF, HTML, Excel, RTF (for Word or other word processing software), or CSV formats. You can select as many of these as you like bychecking the respective boxes.Under the Content Repository text, you willneed to select a folder where you wish to have

the report output delivered. This will be your private folder or a subfolder of your choice. Finally, you may also choose to have an Email Notification (optional), where you can benotified that the report has been completed and delivered to your private folder. Inaddition, you can attach the report files, so they will be delivered to your inbox – or to afriend’s inbox. Simply check the Attach Files box to do this. Now, it’s time to see the results. Select either the Homemenu option, or View -> Repository, to get back to your folders. Open the Premium Member Sandbox folder, whereyou will find your private folder, and select that folder (or the subfolder where the reports were delivered). Note thetwo Top_TB reports we created with the scheduler – one inPDF, and one in XLS format. Click on either of thesereports, and they will be opened in a new window using the appropriate application onyour local machine. That’s it – be sure to take advantage of the report scheduler capabilities as a premiummember, and be sure to let us know if you have specific questions by posting to the VIPReporter forum, or sending us a support request. Thanks for reading!
