Nepal is a repository of aromaticplants-over 200 species(Adhikari, 1989; Gurung, 2004),used as food, health careproducts, flavors and fragrancesfor centuries.
Many are exported toindustrialized countries as rawmaterials for drug, fragrance andflavor industries.
Only 20-22 items of essential oilsare extracted for analysis and fortrade in Nepal.
There are vast potentiality toextract essential oils frommajority of underutilizedaromatic herbs and somecommercially important aromaticherbs.

Spreng (Local name:Banmara; Family:Compositae) and
Lantanacamara
L.(Local name: Banphanda, gandhe kanda;Family: Verbenaceae);
Commercially importantculinary species as
Amomumsubulatum
Roxb. (Localname: Alainchi; Family:Zingiberaceae) and
Linderaneesiana
(Wall. ex Nees)Kurz. (Local name: Siltimur;Family: Lauraceae) areselected for the presentstudy.
