Linoleum Cut Print Making Without A Press
Program: Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 7 to 9pmProgram free to members, non-members $3PLUS Drawing for original artwork, value $300 Workshop: Sat., March 28 from 9am to 3pm$65/member, $70/non-memberThe secrets of incredible printmaking, steeped inthe rich traditions of Native American culture, will be the focus of the RAA Marchprogram with guest artist, Jesús Cruz, Jr.He has won dozens of notable artcompetition awards for his distinctivestyle and exciting depiction of intricatelino cut designs. Jesús Cruz, Jr. was atop award winner of the 2008 Riverside Art Museum Member Exhibition andthe 2008 California State Fair Fine ArtsExhibition. His work is represented ingalleries from Oregon to California. Eachof his works tells a graphic story about the lifeand history of Western Native Americans.During the workshop, participants will makesmall 9"x12" prints and greeting cards aroundthe “Dia de los Muertos” theme along with organic designs from nature.SPECIAL NOTE: Jesús Cruz, Jr. will alsobe in the RAA gallery from 1pm to 3pmon Thursday, March 19 and Monday,March 23, creating lino cuts as a pre-demonstration, discussing his art andtechniques for all interested artists.The list of recommended workshopmaterials includes: smooth cold press watercolor paper for lifted prints, rubbergloves, a small bottle of baby oil, a small bottleof rubbing alcohol, and an apron.
