There are two stages: preliminary plan (assignment 1) final plan (assignment 2) In this coursework assignment (1), a report is required by the Steering Committee, entitled "FROSTIE and SCIMITAR: Preliminary Installation and Support Plan". What is the purpose of this report? Note that this refers to the document, not the project as a whole.

1.2. Scope
What is included in the plan? What is not included? (i.e. identify the 'boundaries' of the plan.) State any assumptions in this section.

2. Installation 2.1. Deployment plan


What is the overall approach to the installation of the FROSTIE and SCIMITAR systems, i.e. how will the system be deployed (or "rolled-out")? This may be "immediate cut-over/direct changeover", "parallel running", "phased geographic", phased by function, "pilot" or a suitable combination of approaches. Provide an overview of how this approach will be put into use.

2.2. Data migration


What data is required in the new system? How will data be transferred from existing sources into the new system? Is there any existing data not required by the new system?

2.3. Training
Which users will need training, and what sort of training do they need? When should training be arranged for users?

2.4. Business change issues


What are the key business issues that SMARTS will face during the installation of the FROSTIE and SCIMITAR systems?

3. Support 3.1. Support needs


Who will require support? Outline the group(s) of people who will have access to the support service. What are the hours of service during which Help Desk support is provided?

3.2. The Help Desk


How will the SMARTS support service operate? Provide a brief description of the proposed Help Desk, including: the intended support model under which the Help Desk will operate where the Help Desk will be located, and how it will be staffed

3.3. Issue tracking and escalation


What categories of support issue will the Help Desk recognise? How will records of issues reported by users be maintained and updated? How and when will support issues be escalated to the next level?

3.4. Support service levels


What service level targets are defined for each category of support issue?
