Brothers of Howell Lodge #38 F&AM, March 2013Brothers of Howell Lodge have been gathering to conduct Masonic business on the first Wednesday of each month since January 1850. The next meeting for our Lodge will be March 6th at 7:00 PM andevery Brother that attends will be welcomed and greeted with a friendly handshake and words of welcome. The evenings meeting also provides an opportunity for you to meet our newest MasterMasons who were raised at Dearborn’s Scottish Rite Temple on February 2nd. The four new MasterMasons are Jason Baker, Jeff Hanson, Jim Rutherford and Joshua Kley. If you’ve not attended Lodgerecently, make plans to attend and discover what future activities are being planned for 2013.At the March 6th meeting SW Steven New will present a scholarship report and provide informationregarding deadlines for scholarship applications. Last year six young men and women were eachrecipients of $720.00 scholarships. JW Doug Belser will provide an update on the annual Spaghetti Dinner. In the very near future everyBrother will receive tickets to sell for this event. This is a major philanthropic activity sponsored by ourLodge and it is always well attended. Over the years the Spaghetti Dinner has raised thousands of dollars which the Lodge contributes to support the ARC of Livingston.Four members of Howell Lodge #38 F&AM will be honored at the March 6th meeting for their decadesof loyalty and longevity. One Brother will receive his 70 year pin and certificate. Three Brothers will bepresented 50 year pins and certificates. This is an opportunity to congratulate these Masons for theirtrue and steadfast membership in Howell Lodge. The February 6th meeting was concluded with A Ceremony for the Celebration of the Anniversary of theBirth of Brother George Washington. This ceremony was provided to all interested Masonic Lodges bythe George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The purpose of this ceremony was to promote thevirtues, character and vision of George Washington, the man, the Mason and the father of our country.At Howell Lodge #38 F&AM a wreath was placed at the foot of Brother Washington’s portrait that hangsin the lodge room and eight Brothers participated in the performance of the ceremony. This wascertainly a meaningful tribute to Brother George Washington.
