On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low organized the rst Girl Scout troops in Savannah, Georgia, with

the belief that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally and spiritually. One hundred years later, Girl Scouts of the USA is a vibrant organization with 59 million living alumnae. Through the wide variety of experiences it offers, ranging from community service projects to robotics camps, girls have gained an understanding of their communities and developed valuable life skills. Today, there are more than 3.2 million Girl Scouts throughout the U.S. and its territories, including adult members, who are mentoring, guiding and inspiring 2.3 million girls to become strong, condent leaders. In honor of all of these achievements, and in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the rst Girl Scout troops, the United States Mint will mint and issue the 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollar. This silver dollar is a great way to celebrate the impact of Girl Scouting on your life, or the life of someone close to you.
