1.DATABASE
Every organization maintains their database and it plays an important rolein decision making and fulfilling their information need.Any data may be divided into Characters, Fields, Records, Files andDatabase same as writing can be organized in letters, words, sentences,paragraphs and documents.CHARACTERS: - Most basic logical data element. A single alphabetic,Numeric and other symbol.FIELDS: - A field of data item consist of a grouping of character. Itrepresents an attribute (characteristic or quality) of someentity (object, person, place or event)Ex – Grouping of numbers denotes salary of a person.RECORDS: - Grouping of related fields of data.ORCollection of attributes that describes an entity.

Fixed length records represents fixed number of fixed length fields whereas variable length records contains variable number of fields and field length.FILES : -Group of related records is a data file or table.Ex – document file, history file etc.DATABASE : -Database is a collection of logically related records or objects. The data stored in a database is independent of applicationprograms.
