This is an attempt to demonstrate that there is considerable knowledge present in this World and to reason out that this knowledge could only have been ‘given’ or we could even use the word ‘taught’ by God, Allah Ta’aalah.

I would even like to say that one of the main objectives of my talk is to reason out that this knowledge that is in this World, if viewed properly would lead us to the path of Ilm or in other words it is up to us to process this knowledge and thereby derive Ilm or enlightenment.

Please Note
1.

I have had the great privilege, (since Aug 2010), of presenting talks on the weekly Radio Program
‘Culture of Islam’
[
Every Friday 8 to 8.30 pm, Radio Sri Lanka - FM 97.4
]2.

Since these are Radio Talks, I refer
to, or address the audience as ‘listeners’
 3.

I am well aware that the audience to these talks would consist of people belonging to a variety of faiths. So as to make people of all faiths feel included, I very often use words and names that arecommon to all religions.4.

For these reasons, I use the name GOD, as well as Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc as well as thenames Allah, Ibrahim (Alaihis Salaam), Moosa (Alaihis Salaam), Easa (Alaihis Salaam) etc5.

Muslims by habit usually say ‘Sallallahu Alaihiwasallam’, when th
e name of Prophet Muhammad
is mentioned, and ‘Alaihis Salaam' when the name of a Prophet is mentioned. However, in these
series of talks I have reduced the use of these prayers & sayings to the bare minimum.6.

Muslims, also by habit, use a number of Arabic prayers or sayings, such as Alhamdulillah, InshaAllah and so on. Again, I have reduced the use of these prayers or sayings to the bare minimum.7.

Sometimes I have to write Arabic words in the English script.I have devised my own way of writing Arabic in English, as follows;
th s DHL H GhTH Ss DHZ h GHSW

Knowing Allah
Dear Friends,Assalamu Alaikum,I greet all you listeners with Assalamu Alaikum
 –
which, I am sure all of you would recognize as
the greeting of a Muslim and means ‘Peace be upon you!’
 This program, as the tit
le suggests, discusses the many aspects of the ‘Culture of Islam’.

The most centric theme of this ‘Culture’ is the belief, or the better word would be the conviction
that there is just one God, whom we Muslims call Allah
 –
I prefer to refer to him as Allah
Ta’aalah, or Allah Most Exalted.
Together with this conviction that there is just one God, Muslims are required to persistentlystrive to instill the conviction that everything in this Universe, all its observed as well as unknowndimensions, including
the dimensions of space and time, completely belongs to Allah Ta’aalah
and everything both the holistic, the intricate and the infinitesimal are all in His absolute andsupreme control. That description was a bit of a mouthful
 –
but to put it into simpler terms
 –
everything, simply
everything, belongs to Allah Ta’aalah and He is in complete control of everything.
The second Aayath in Surah Faathiha describes this in even fewer words, very rich in meaning; It is most informative to note that this Aayath
 –
the second in the Holy Quran, is couched between2 other Aayaths
 –
viz. the 1
st
and the 3
rd
Aayaths - and what do these two Aayaths convey
 –
they
extol two out of the many attributes of Allah Ta’aalah –
and those are the attributes of Rahmaanand Raheem. Both words are derived from the root word Rahima
 –
or Mercy; they both convey the meanings of Mercy, Beneficence and Kindness.
The word Rahmaan conveys the meaning of the attribute ‘The Beneficent’ and Raheem the
attribute of Mercy. The two Aayaths are;and
