This is the government's "motion in limine" (That is to say, a motion to exclude evidence/testimony presented by the other side) regarding the medical and legal uses of marijuana in California.

Generally Speaking, the fact that a defendant was compliant under state law does not serve as a defense to a violation of federal law. Thus, the government is arguing that such evidence is irrelevant and prejudicial and should not be allowed.

An indictment is merely an accusation of guilt by the prosecution, all defendants are entitled to a fair trial on all charges and may be acquitted.
