• The Institute for Public Relations has announced the Class of 2011
Trustees and Board leadership for 2009.
• Newly elected Trustees are: Lynn C. Brown, vice president-corporate
communications, Waste Management, Inc.; S. Keith Burton, president,
Insidedge, and executive vice president, GolinHarris; Stephen K. Dishart,
managing director-communications & human resources, Swiss Re; Harvey
Greisman, senior vice president and group executive-worldwide
communications, MasterCard Worldwide; and Mark Hass, CEO, MS&L
Worldwide.
• “We have promised our Trustees that, in return for their dedicated service,
we want them to be able to say that this is the best Board experience –
the most rewarding and among the most prestigious – in the Public
Relations field,” said Institute co-chairs Matthew Gonring, global marketing
& communications consultant, Gagen MacDonald; and Michael A.
Fernandez, vice president-public affairs, State Farm Insurance.
• Existing Trustees re-elected to another three-year term are: Peter

• In addition to co-chairs Gonring and Fernandez, other Institute Board
officers for 2009 include Makovsky as treasurer and Frank Ovaitt as
president and CEO of the Institute.
PR EXECUTIVE FORUM

The Public Relations Executive Forum is an intense two and one-half day
professional development seminar for high performing, mid-career corporate
practitioners. Presented jointly by the Institute for Public Relations and the Arthur
W. Page Society, May 6-8 in Chicago. More information and registration online.

1st EUROPEAN SUMMIT ON MEASUREMENT

The Institute for Public Relations and the Association for Measurement and
Evaluation of Communications will jointly present the Summit on Measurement in
Berlin, June 10-12, 2009. Workshops will offer deep insights into measurement
practices and plenary sessions will range from the rise of social media to the
communications challenges of a global downturn. Dinner on June 11th will be
held in the Reichstag, home of the German Parliament.
