The most important factor for flying an aerial vehicle is theamount of liftgenerated. Againthe generation of lift depends on how much the flow is turned, which depends on the shape of the object. In general, the lift is a very complex function of the shape. Thus optimising adesired shape of aerofoil is a matter of great importance. This thesis involves such an
important topic and that is ―
design of cambered aerofoil for unmanned aerial vehicle based onsubsonic wind tunnel test
The design of an Aerofoil usually starts with the definition of thedesired or required characteristics. These can be a certain range of lift coefficients, Reynoldsnumbers, where the Aerofoil should perform best, moment coefficient, thickness, low drag, high lift or any combination of such requirements. As there is no such an Aerofoil available, which perfectly fits the desired conditions and fulfils all requirements, hence this effort wasattempted to design something new with improved performance. The first section of this chapter provides with the description of aerofoil development, thenhistorical evolution and ends with a short description of aerofoil.
