The Arabic army arrived at the castle in the Spring. The careful caliph checked his calendar and he saw it was early March. The army marched under the arches of the castle gates. Some of the soldiers had scars and some wore badges on their collars. The castle servants served them cool water and fresh dates. Afterwards, the soldiers rested in the shade of the date trees and oiled their swords.
