Dear Friends,
With much excitement, we welcome you to our 47th annual production sale! A light snow has blanketed the cows today and we couldnt be more excited to welcome it to the area. While the snow accumulations have not been excessive, optimism seems to remain high. Surrounding regions and states have seen a return of the white stu and we know we are one day closer to having a big one cut loose. Our excitement and enthusiasm for better quality cattle continues to drive our ambitions and adventures. We are persistently working to make our cattle more productive and functional. As far as we know, the perfect bull has not yet been produced; so, we continue to select a variety of sires that bring dierent strengths to our herd. Each year we select a group of AI sires that will oer us exceptional calving ease and light birth weights. However, we put just as much focus on selecting a group of power bulls that produce strong heavy calves at weaning. Whether they are calving ease bulls or power bulls, they also oer dierent strengths when it comes to carcass, foot quality, udder quality and disposition. We strongly feel each trait is just as important as the other and therefore, we do not single trait select for one specic thing. Sires may come and go, but a few key management decisions have remained the same. Our calves continue to be grown without any supplementation prior to weaning. We feel creep feeding doesnt provide us with the most accurate idea of a cows capabilities. We know you want the most honest weights you can get and that is why our weights are measured accurately and recorded honestly. You can rest easy knowing the weights we have listed are honest measurements. is years bulls have been maintained on a 48 mega calorie and 14% protein diet, for the majority of the winter. A bull that is too fat will struggle to cover very many cows, but a bull that is too green will have the same up hill battle. We strive to place our bulls in between these two extremes. We are extremely thankful for all the loyal customers who have put their trust in us and the wonderful neighbors and friends who continue to help us build this program. Rushmore Angus, if they are injured during their rst breeding season and not able to return to service during that rst breeding season.
