I'm using TB 2.0.0.14, and used the addons that u wrote on the doc. Btw, i have WindowsVista Home Premium. And thanks in advance =)" I experienced something similar. It was due largely to the fact that using the new Windows Live Beta downloads full webpages and "scrapes" the message content from them to insert into TB. I had over 1200 messages that it had to process for the first connect and it wouldn't connect and instead it would time out. I tried changing the timeout settings in TB to 120 sec. (default is 60) and it still timed out. After changing it to 240 sec. (way too long in my opinion), it finally worked. The settings in TB are under "Tools", "Options", "Advanced", "Network & Disk Space". Hopefully that helps.

KH - Not sure if you are still having the sendign problem, as I have just found this post (followed the instructions above after having previous problems and this one worked perfectly first time), as I too could not send. I went into Tools / Account Settings / Outgoing Server, selected Webmail - localhost and changed the user name (which had defaulted to the main IMAP account I was using) to XXXX@live.co.uk (the address and domain of the hotmail account I was trying to send from). This did the trick. I hope yours gets sorted as this is a great add on. Marc.

Installation worked great -- was able to transfer incoming emails to Thunderbird right away - however when I went to send an email I received the following message: "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server localhost failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator." Any ideas on how to correct this? Thanks, k_h

Worked like a charm!! Many thanks. Notes: In TB v 2.0 "Extra" is called "Tools" and "Preferences" comes up as "Options. My setup is a WinXP SP2 machine I HATE the new "Windows Live Mail" replacement for Outlook Express!!! TBird seems like a great alternative.
