Dear L. Mason Neely,We have recently compiled the results of the Crosstown Commuter Survey. Wereceived back a total of 475 surveys for which results are reported.
A factor from thesurvey is that some questions have more total answers than surveys received. When completing the survey some people provided more than one answer to thesame question.
There were also questions in which people did not answer, those arereported as N/A.The results speak for themselves. The only item that jumped out was question Hwhere 29 people answered, “they do not take the Crosstown bus home from NYC in thePM because they are unable to get a seat”. We took the next step and contacted thosewho provided us with their email address to find out when they were unable to get aseat. There were 19 commuters who left their email address and we receivedresponses from 7 of them. We sent them a follow up miniature questionnaire to get abetter idea of what was happening. The follow up questions we asked were:1. What is your ideal time which you would take the Crosstown bushome from NYC?2. When was the last time you tried to take the Crosstown bus homefrom NYC?3. Because of your answer regarding a lack of seating, is it moreconvenient for you to take a bus home from the Port Authority?4. Please feel free to write any pertinent information that you feel canimprove the Crosstown Service. (See attachment B)The general feeling from those who responded was that it is easier to walk to thePort Authority at night because there are more options. Also, waiting on the street wasnot a positive event if they were not sure that a seat was open. However, this issue issomething which Scott will discuss at the March meeting. Please see the attachment Awith the complete survey results. Thank you!
