Tech Trends 2013
Welcome to Deloitte South Arica’s annual Technology Trends Report 2013. This is where we examine the everevolving technology landscape and the major technology inuencers on your business; specifcally within a SouthArican context; and how they are going to aect you, your organization and your customers, in the ollowing 18 to24 months. This year’s theme, Elements o postdigital, examines the convergence and controlled collision o fve orces –Analytics, Mobile, Social, Cloud and Cyber – as businesses move closer to achieving the possibilities o the PostdigitalEnterprise, where all fve orces are mature, implemented, integrated and baked-in versus bolted-on. Technology andBusiness become one! There are 10 trends in total which are grouped into two categories; Disruptors and Enablers.Disruptors are technologies that can create sustainable positive disruption in IT capabilities, business operations andsometimes even business models.Enablers are technologies in which many CIOs have already invested time and eort, but which warrant another lookthis year because o new developments. Enablers may be more evolutionary than revolutionary, but the potential isthere to elevate the business game with technology. To urther increase the South Arican relevance o this report; we have rated each trend across three specifc levels:Relevance; Immediacy; Readiness.
• The Relevance score presents our view of the degree of relevance of this global trend has in our current market
how much o an impact the trend in question will ultimately have.
•The Immediacy scale is an indicator of when we suggested you look to invest in actions related to this trend.•The Readiness scale shows us how ready we in South Africa are to deal with or benet from this trend. There could
be impediments that may need to be removed or real benefts to be realised.Thank you or reading this year’s report. We welcome your eedback and participation. To the many executives who have provided input into Technology Trends 2013, thank you or your time and insight. For more inormation on these Technology Trends and more please visit either our Deloitte blog or the DeloitteTechnology LinkedIn Group.Regards,
