The Art Of The Singer Songwriter
Coming Full Circle
Hi again from a cold London, slightly dissapointed as my recording weekenddid not come to fruition but other progress was made relating to mynetworking. I have started to open doors regarding having my songs placedand got the ball rolling so as to start my own publishing company. This seemsto make sense as I've had now two bad experiences with music publishers. One of the main problems in this game is who the hell can you trust and it'samazing the crap you have to put up with because of a signature on a pieceof paper. That aside I'd forgot to mention last weekend which I spentrehearsing with my good friend TJ who is putting percussion on my newrecordings. It was a wonderful weekend and looks like we'll be doing someacoustic shows together as I've had some good gig offers here in London. I'mstill having to work hard outside music to make ends meet and in fact I'vecome full circle as I'm working as a carpenter again (the first job I did after leaving school) and using spare cash to support my muse. It feels like I'm in agood place though and although not planned an exciting acoustic combo iscoming together. If things go well with the music placement a passive incomewould help free up time for more music. I could not possibly do this blogmasquerading as a successful artist like many do, that would not be the realme and in a way I'm proud to have found the energy again to do all this.Although it can be sometimes frustrating balancing music, work and family, not forgetting I seem to keep making babies (with my partner and not just anywoman I might add) the madness of it all is me and I'm glad to be back in thesame place as I was many years ago. I'm a great believer in "if it feels rightthen bloody do it"I often ponder the years I spent without makng music, I justseemed to have such a good time back in York where I was a stage manager at a theatre and then just seemed to drift along through France and Londonworking as a production manager for a football team in France then aboatman on a Dutch barge in the Loire Valley and arriving in London in 97 todo weird stuff like decor in drug crazed clubs, erecting marquees and thendriving to every corner of London in the early hours setting up conferences for corporate fatcats, even worked as an AV technician in monte carlo and had aprivate suite there in the hotel de Paris. And now I've come full circle, acarpenter wanting to make music from my songs. It feels good though and it'sstill a thrill to think tomorrow could bring the news I've been waiting for. Iguess I have technology to thank i.e been able to record, publish and sharemy music. That's the crux of it I do this because I can and yeah sometimes itcan drive you crazy but when it clicks like rehearsing with TJ last week or some progress with networking and of course the music still growing andplaying with different people. I'm gonna sign off now and prepare myself for aday of woodworking, as ever the radio will fill my day with music and I'll besinging and soaking up the vibe just like I did when I was sixteen and I just didnot give a fuck and I feel pretty much the same now but older, wiser and withresponsibility for my child and new addition. Bring on the future I'm readywilling and able.I really do appreciate you few who read this, your reward willbe my new e.p, some cracking new acoustic versions of songs from my first
