On November 24, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo, the priest of Dolores, came to the Hacienda Atequiza owned by Ignacio Basauri. Brought an army of seven thousand men who slept that night at the ranch. Why choose to stay in Hidalgo Atequiza? theory is a reasonable supply of food, as were thousands of mouths, and had enormous Atequiza Trojan, various cereals. From 1812 to 1816 ran a heroic uprising of José Encarnación Rosas and Mezcal people against the Spanish government, the rebels were besieged in the coastal island in the Presidio, but an opportunity mock guards and looted the Treasury to bring food to Atequiza soldiers.

Born in Hacienda Atequiza de Octaviano de San Juan de la Mora Riesch the June 24, 1841, who became an innovative photographer, famous portrait which won prizes in France. He took many portraits of Porfirio Díaz, General Ramón Corona, Mariano Bárcena, and all the wealthy families of Jalisco, including Haro and Hijar Gortazar the Cañedo, the Rincón Gallardo and his nephews the Cuesta Gallardo (he was a cousin Josefa Gallardo Riesch ), also artists such as Angela Peralta. Portrayed Ignacio Luis Vallarta, Francisco Tolentino and hundreds of people for over 40 years, also ran photos of foreign Guadalajara consideration as anonymous. The press of the time always mentioned as an excellent photographer, the best or the best portraitist of the era. He died in Mexico City on May 15, 1921.

On May 14, 1888 opened the railway-Irapuato Mexico-Guadalajara, for a stretch of its construction were purchased from Atequiza a million sleepers mezquiteras of the finances, in that first trip, the journalist Manuel Caballero says the picturesque landscape that provides the wealth of Atequiza, whose fertile lands and magnificent estate called the attention of observers. The "view", along with others from Mexico City, were distributed throughout Europe and elsewhere by the Company Lumière. Mexico Atequiza represented the peasant, rural, traditionalist in the eyes of the world where the film came in the early years to invent.

The photographer Charles B. Waite, Atequiza visited at least twice, in 1905 photograph Atequiza five sites: the temple, arches (missing) from the big house where you and Joaquín Manuel Cuesta Gallardo, the main courtyard where there are three statues porfirianas, the manufactures of alcohol, and a panoramic view of the farm.
