CONTACT: Office of FinancingOctober 25, 2004 202/504-3550TREASURY OFFERS 2-YEAR NOTESThe Treasury will auction $24,000 million of 2-year notes to refund $26,880 million of publicly held notes maturing October 31, 2004, and to pay downapproximately $2,880 million.In addition to the public holdings, Federal Reserve Banks hold $5,560 millionof the maturing notes for their own accounts, which may be refunded by issuingan additional amount of the new security.Up to $1,000 million in noncompetitive bids from Foreign and International Monetary Authority (FIMA) accounts bidding through the Federal Reserve Bank of NewYork will be included within the offering amount of the auction. These noncompetitive bids will have a limit of $100 million per account and will be accepted in the orderof smallest to largest, up to the aggregate award limit of $1,000 million.
customers requested that we reinvest their maturing holdingsof approximately $483 million into the 2-year note.The auction will be conducted in the single-price auction format. All competi-tive and noncompetitive awards will be at the highest yield of accepted competitivetenders.
