The number of people actually reporting eagles they see influences the totals shown here. They do not indicate the number of eagles in the area. They do suggest that golden eagles are not just in Highland County during the winter, but are also in the county during the breeding season. We cannot rule out thecommon misidentification of juvenile bald eagles as golden eagles; however numerous reports by different people in the same area on the same day lend credence to these reports. All golden eaglesightings are included in the full seasonal data reports and these show more sightings during the cold months than warm months.

It gainedaltitude, circling and drifting south over the valley.
