AUStRAlIAN MARkEt!

In our September newsletter we announced the grand release o\ue001 the new Philips Consumer TV range. 2 months later we have some devastating news \u2013 the consumer range is leaving our shores !!! Philips announced that as a part o\ue001 a global strategy to increase pro\ue000tability in the consumer TV market, they would cease production \ue001or the Australian market! This year alone, we saw Fujitsu and Hitachi leave the aussie market, not to mention Pioneer ceasing global production and other brands rationalising their o\ue001\ue001erings to the Aussie market.

What do we think this means \u2013 the TV party\u2019s coming to an end!

For the last 2 years, we have been telling resellers, trade and end users \u2018you will never have this so good\u2019.
Manu\ue001acturers are not making money in Australia and resellers are making around 10% less pro\ue000t on TVs when
compared to equivalent countries. This has pushed wholesalers and retailers to demand higher rebates and e\ue001\ue001ectively
pushed quality brands out o\ue001 our country.

Philips have in\ue001ormed us that they only have limited stock o\ue001 their 47\u201d LCD and the rest o\ue001 their stock have already sold
out as o\ue001 30/09/08.

The Philips release o\ue001 their consumer LCD range was the most impressive in 2008. The display at CEDIA highlighted the
per\ue001ormance void between Philips and their closest rivals. It\u2019s generally accepted that they have the best product on
the market at the moment and prices are low.
