Code of Academic Integrity
.

There are now four defined standards of academic integrity that all academicwork must satisfy. Violations of these standards may constitute
 plagiarism,collusion, cheating
, and/or
 fabrication
. Please review the Code for thedefinition of each violation.

Sanctions for students who violate the Code may now include a grade of XFon the student transcript (XF is defined as failure resulting from academicdishonesty). Please review the Code for further explanation of the XFsanction.

The new Code includes examples of how the University should continuouslycommunicate the importance of academic integrity to its students and faculty. The full text of UVM’s
Code of Academic Integrity
is located on the UVM Policies, Procedures andGuidelines webpage at:http://www.uvm.edu/~uvmppg/ppg/student/acadintegrity.pdf
 Religious Holidays:
Students have the right to practice the religion of their choice. Eachsemester students should submit in writing to their instructors by the end of the second full week of classes their documented religious holiday schedule for the semester. Faculty must permit students who miss work for the purpose of religious observance to make up this work.

Academic Integrity and Take-home exams:
Extra credit, unannounced, pop quizzes will be given in class periodically. Those students present for allthe quizzes will see their final grade incremented by 1/3 a grade. For example, if a student earns a B+grade and has perfect attendance on all quiz dates, regardless of grade, their final grade will be increasedto A-. If, however, a student is absent on a day a quiz is given, he or she will receive-5 points(yes, I saidminus 5) that will be added into their final grade total. When answering exam question, students can consult with any reference or person but are REQUIRED towrite or type their response alone and without any outside help. Answers to any questions on exams thatare similar for any two or more students will constitute a breech for Academic Integrity and each studentwill fail the exam and, perhaps, a grade of XF for course.
