COLONY DISCOVERY UPDATE

NEW COLONIES:OBERON & ERIDANI
Oberon
 Anarchy broke out shortly aftertouchdown on Oberon, resulting inlooting and skirmishes betweenneighbors. Realizing the necessity fororder, command personnel and theirfamilies banded together to form apolicing force and government. Thisruling class became known as the Admiralty. They assigned the colonists toduties depending on their field of expertise.
TEX 
Those with technical backgrounds wereput in charge of designing devices andstructures to make life on Oberon morebearable. Originally referred to as
techs
,their children were forced to continuetheir assignments and the technical caste was born. The name eventually evolvedinto
Tex 
 which is both the singular andplural version of the word.
MEDIX 
The medical personnel were alsolumped into a caste, as were theirdescendants.

eventually replacedthe Earth term,

COLONISTS
Everyone who could not offertechnological or medical assistance wereknown as
Colonists
. They contributefood, pottery, and labor, but do so underthe orders of the Admiralty. Colonists areboth servants and average citizens, whilethe Tex and Medix are castes that arehighly respected.
THE ADMIRALTY 
The only land owners on Oberon, the Admiralty are akin to feudal lords. Thereare various titles associated with the Admiralty and each has many Tex, Medix,and Colonists in his charge. It is the Admiralty who collectively makedecisions for the colony and tell thepeople how to behave. Those who rebelagainst the Admiralty or commit crimesare excommunicated from society andmust fend for themselves in the untame wilds.

Eridani
Eridani is a world of few resources. Allof the colonists pulled together for many  years in order to build a strong community. Some people became greedy and didn’t want to share, causing familiesto splinter and argue amongst themselves. A war between the families began.The factions were at a stalemate andeach began looking for ways to win. In theend, one did—sort of. They created theultimate weapon and used it on theirenemies. It was not unlike nuclear devicesfrom the early twenty-first century.No tests were performed, except forthe small-scale, controlled detonations;they were unprepared for the full-sizedevice. Upon detonation, a shock wave was unleashed which demolished everbuilding and killed three quarters of thepopulation. And it didn’t just affect theirenemies, the shock wave reached theterritories of all factions, even theirs. A Mars spacecraft entered Eridani’sorbit approximately one year after theapocalypse. Upon reaching the surface,they discovered what was left of thecolonists living in caves. They weremaimed and malnourished. Every last surviving colonist was transported back toMars. The injured were treated and most  who were fit for duty, volunteered to fight for Earth.
