OPEN LETTER TO THE TORONTO POLICE BOARD

March 15 2013

TORONTO POLICE SERVICES BOARD Chairman Alok Mukherjee

Dear Dr Alok Mukherjee:

Today in Canada and the world we remember the "International Day Against Police Brutality" . As such Toronto Taxpayer Citizens will be meeting to exercise their freedom of speech/ expression under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to denounce publicly the abuse of police brutality of some of your officers. Mr. Mukherjee, It is important to recognize that not all T.P.S officers are above the law, they respect the laws, they are simply following orders and some out of fear, for being of being ostracize by their peers and the top brass of the T.P.S they don't have other alternative that to "go with the flow"..

Mr. Mukherjee, I deep heartily believe, not everyone in the T.P.S on duty or off duty, are out to harm or hurt badly a Toronto Taxpayer Citizen. However you , the Chief of Police and the Police Union must recognize, that, there are "bad apples" in your force, I would like to quote the remarks you made to the media yesterday, as a judge verdict found T.P.S officers lying to the Courts: .....I have read the report and am very disturbed by the judges findings and comments, said Dr. Alok Mukherjee. It is my expectation that the service will take action immediately to investigate the conduct of these officers given that their testimony was pivotal to the case....

We, Toronto Taxpayers Citizens expect what you have said publicly and we , will hold you accountable to your words: ".........the Toronto Police Services Board chairman said this latest appalling alleged transgression will not be swept under the carpet......"

For your information and knowledge dear Alok today I and several Toronto Taxpayers Citizens , would be participants of a non-violent rally at 52 Division to protest publicly the abuses by members of 52 division. There will cameras rolling from both angles.. If Toronto Taxpayers Citizens including myself, are in any way or form being target by your officers, you are fully warned that We were exercising our rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Human Rights Code to protest peacefully. In conclusion : I strongly suggest the T.P.S Board and the Chief of Police; to remind T.P.S officers who are Municipal Employees that the City's Auditor General has a "Whistle blower Protection" that can shield any officer who provides testimony of fellow officers who are in the practice of Police Brutality or are in the believe to be "above the law" .. This is prime information that must be repeated over and over so those bad apples in the force are eliminated via job termination and the Union should also support this suggestion. This will have a positive impact It allows the public to trust their police again, ensures less money spent on lawyers and fewer trips to hospitals and funeral parlours , and a huge relief Toronto Taxpayers Citizens who are funding a system that harbors criminals with their taxes every year. I am copying this email : the vice-chair of the Board and to the President of the Police Union and it is of public knowledge on social media sites https://www.facebook.com/events/228245747320357/ I would love to challenge Dr Mukherjee, The Chief of Police and the Union President to come out to publicly admit and acknowledge that the Board is REALLY aware of this bad apples and how the T.P.S Board are vigorously planning to deal with this issue. Enough Said!

Sincerely Yours always,

Miguel Avila City Hall Monitor
