Colour blindness is usually just passed down by genes (with 1/12 of males colour blind and 1/200 females). Other causes can be that some medicines have colour blindness side effect, Shaken Baby Syndrome (which can cause damage to theretina and brain damage to cause color blindness), Accidents to the retina andbrain; UV damage (from looking into the sun too much ). Most UV damage iscaused in childhood and this form of damage is the leading cause of blindness inthe world. This damage usually takes affect in elderly years .Medication is the most possible way that Jonas's family and community wascolour blind because it would be hard to pick out every 1 in 200 people just to putin the communityThe main cause of colour blindness iscaused by damage to the retina which is anerve in the back of the eye that picks upcolours.
